What are the benefits of WordPress? I have often been asked.
Because it is still said that you should not use WordPress because it is clumsy, complex and unsafe.
But that is utter nonsense.
WordPress was founded in 2003 and has been growing ever since. Last year, the number of users increased again: 27 percent of all websites worldwide are made with WordPress. At the beginning of 2016, the figure was still 25 percent.
Why do so many people choose this content management system?
I have made a well-organized list for myself of why WordPress has so many advantages.
Attention, there we go.
These are the advantages of WordPress:
1. Five-minute installation
The WordPress website states that within five minutes (the famous 5-minute installation) you can be online with a WordPress website. And that is right! You can download the software from WordPress to your computer, then install it with your hosting party. Then change a few more settings and you’re online!
2. Most popular cms
It is the most popular cms in the world. Many developers are constantly working on improving and refining it. So you have a great good content management system. Because it’s so popular, more and more hosting parties are offering specific WordPress hosting.
3. Versatile
WordPress is an all-rounder. In the past, it could only be used to create a blog, but nowadays everything is possible, from a corporate website to a community. From a forum to a news site. The possibilities are unlimited.
4. Easy to find in search engines
Google loves WordPress. The system and the underlying codes are so well put together that search engines display these websites if optimized properly, high up in the search results.
5. Freedom and flexibility
Within WordPress, you have a lot of freedom to decide for yourself what your website looks like. You can choose your own themes, then customize the theme as you like, or you can add all kinds of extra functionalities with the plugins. You can build (almost) anything with WordPress.
6. Easy to use
The cms from WordPress is user-friendly. For example, to add articles, you use the editor, which is very similar to the Microsoft Word processing program. You can then easily publish your text yourself.
7. Responsive
The content management system is also responsive and you can manage it from your computer, tablet or smartphone. And that from anywhere in the world, because you can log on to a computer or tablet anywhere.
8. A lot of help and manuals
There is a large community that you can contact for questions and problems about your website. They are often very helpful and want to help you move forward. For example, you can ask questions on the WordPress forum. Furthermore, WordPress has good documentation and manuals available to help you further.
9. It’s free!
Not unimportant, WordPress is free! You don’t have to pay anything for it, you can download it for free. This also applies to many themes and plugins, which often have a free and a premium version. The free version has a bit fewer features than premium but is often fine to use for your website.
Those were the most important ones!
Although of course there are other good content management systems, I don’t consider switching to another one.
The advantages of competitors do not outweigh these.
