Sucuri SiteCheck is an online tool to scan your website for malware, blacklisting and other malicious threats. Prevention is better than curing!
You often won’t notice, but websites are being attacked on a daily basis on many fronts.
That also goes for yours…
The online tool Sucuri SiteCheck is part of the company Sucuri, which helps clients keep their website safe from intruders. They can make your website hack-free again and help you with going up against large-scale attacks (DDoS).
Aside from that, they have made a free online tool available, the Sucuri SiteCheck.
How does Sucuri SiteCheck work?
It is very simple: You fill in your website’s address in the input field, and press ‘Scan website’.
The scan will then give you an overview of possible threats. Green means that nothing is wrong, yellow or red does.
The yellow bar closely after ‘Website Firewall’ is a bit of a sales trick. It leads you to the services offered by Sucuri. However, it is recommended to consider also installing a firewall.
The scan is a snapshot of the state of your website, but it gives a good view of the possible problems.
Sucuri Security plugin
If you want more control over the safety of your website, you can also download the Sucuri Security plugin for free.
This gives an overview of the following cases:
- monitoring all security activities
- monitoring of files
- malware scanning
- blacklist monitoring
- Monitoring hacked messages
- security notifications
- Website firewall (add on)
You can also watch a number of videos on the plugin page about how this works exactly. One of them is about monitoring activities:
Finally, prevention is better than curing, so the challenge is to regularly check your website for malicious influences.
Sometimes, you won’t even notice that you have been hacked. And if you see the following image on your screen, you are already too late…
